The baked sweet potatoes I am a outline simple and tasty, a delicious alternative to classic baked potatoes, ideal to accompany main courses of meat or fish. Also called American potatoes or batatas, they are oval-shaped tuberous roots, slightly pointed at the ends: they are characterized by a brown skin and a beautiful intense orange pulp, with a sweet taste; rich in vitamins, mineral salts and fibres, they are a valuable food for health.

In the kitchen sweet potatoes are a lot versatile and lend themselves to being used in all those preparations in which common potatoes are generally used. Cultivated mainly in tropical areas, but typical of American and Anglo-Saxon cuisine, they are now known and appreciated throughout the world.

In our recipe, we cut them into pieces, season with extra virgin olive oil, garlic and parsley, then cook at 200°C for about 20 minutes: the end result is potatoes crispy on the outside and sweet to the heart, which will literally be snapped up. You can leave them with the whole skin, for a more rustic and intense taste, but make sure in this case that they are organic or in any case of safe origin.

You can flavor them with others if you wish aromatic herbssuch as thyme or rosemary, with spices, such as smoked paprika, chilli or mild curry, and accompany them with a little sauce creamy and super delicious. Try our homemade mayonnaise, ketchup or simply mix plain Greek yogurt with old-fashioned mustard, lemon juice, oil, salt and pepper: they will be irresistible.

How to Bake Sweet Potatoes

Wash the potatoes thoroughly and rub them with a dry, absorbent towel 1.

Remove the extremities and all the blackened or too rough parts 2.

Cut the potatoes into pieces that are not too small and more or less the same size for even cooking 3.

Collect the potatoes in a large bowl and add the peeled garlic 4.

Also mix in a generous drizzle of oil and finely chopped parsley 5then mix well.

Spread the potatoes on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper, trying to obtain a single layer, without overlapping them 6.

Season with salt and pepper 7.

Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 20 minutes, switching to grill mode if necessary in the last minutes. 8.

Serve the sweet potatoes in the oven while they are still piping hot 9.
