Il chicken all’ananas is a typical preparation of Chinese cooking. And according to easy and fast, among the most ordered in oriental restaurants and all you can eat, easily replicable at home with a few simple ingredients. The chicken breast, once cut into bite-sized pieces, passed in corn starch and browned well in the wok with a drizzle of oil and a little ginger grated, it is flavored with soy sauce and then enriched with fresh pineapple wedges.

The result will be an unmistakable flow sweet and sour taste in which the flavor of the soy sauce it goes perfectly with the sweetness of fruit: for a truly balanced and irresistible mix of flavors. If you prefer, for a single dish and well balanced, you can accompany the chicken with a portion of basmati rice or, for an original and effective presentation, you can serve it during an ethnic lunch or dinner with friends, inside half emptied pineapple.

For this recipe we used the wok: the traditional cast iron pot of oriental origin which, thanks to its particular oval shape, with flared and high wall, will allow a uniform cooking and fast of the meat sealing it perfectly on the outside, and leaving it tender and juicy at the heart. If you don’t have it at home, you can replace it with a good non-stick pan or, if you wish, you can get one of the many on the market, as long as it is of good quality.

Before proceeding with cooking the chicken, in addition to having the right tools, make sure you cut it into pieces of the same size: in this way it will brown evenly and the final result will be flawless. Here we have opted for thefresh pineapplebut if necessary you can easily replace it with canned one.

When it comes to cleaning the pineapple, we suggest you do not throw away the core: rich in bromelain, it can be used to prepare a diuretic and anti-inflammatory herbal tea.

How to make pineapple chicken

Peel the pineapple and, with the help of a sharp knife, remove the central core 1.

Cut the pineapple into slices a couple of cm thick 2.

Cut each slice into wedges of about 2-3 cm 3 and keep aside.

Meanwhile, cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and dip them in the cornstarch 4.

Pour a drizzle of oil into a wok, add a little grated ginger 5 and leave it to flavor for a few moments.

Place the chicken cubes in the wok 6removing excess starch.

And brown them over a high flame, turning them often, with the help of kitchen tongs 7to prevent them from sticking together.

Cook for about 8 minutes or until the chicken nuggets are well browned 8.

Then blend with the soy sauce 9.

Let the meat cook for 1 minute 10.

Add the pineapple chunks 11.

Continue cooking for another 1 minute and remove from the heat 12.

Spread the pineapple chicken on individual plates 13bring to the table and serve.
