Their preparation is really simple and quick, and will allow you to involve even the little ones at home with a minimum of effort, who will be delighted to surprise their dad with a sweet thought dedicated to him.

To make them, we start from the shortbread dough, made by working together the soft butter with the sugar and the vanilla extract, then incorporating the egg, the yolk and the flour. Once you get a smooth, even brick, just do it. rest in the fridge for a few hours, then spread it to a thickness of 4 mm on a sheet of parchment paper: at this stage the cookies are obtained (in the shape of a bow tie, tie, hat, mustache, letters and much more) and, finally, after baking, they are decorated with royal icing, added with i food coloring.

The result will be scenographic and delicious sweets, to be placed in a transparent bag and given to dad at the end of the meal, or to taste snack with the whole family.

You can shape the cookies with the special molds or, if you don’t have any on hand, you can make them at home in just a few steps: simply draw the shapes you want on a piece of cardboard, cut them out with a pair of scissors and place them on the dough. If you wish, you can try a cocoa version, you can flavor the dough with a pinch of cinnamonenrich it with chocolate chips or you can replace the icing with sugarpaste.

How to make Father’s Day cookies

Prepare the shortcrust pastry: collect the softened butter in small pieces in a bowl, add the sugar 1 and vanilla extract and work with the tines of a fork, until the mixture is creamy.

Mix egg and yolk 2and mix thoroughly.

Add sifted flour 3 and a pinch of salt, and work again until the dough is smooth and homogeneous.

Form a rectangular loaf, wrap it in a sheet of transparent film 4 and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least two hours.

After the rest time, roll out the dough to a thickness of 4 mm and, using special stencils or cardboard templates 5cut out the biscuits in the shape of a heart, hat, bow tie, mustache, tie and letter: you can thus compose the word “dad”.

Fix the biscuits obtained on a plate with parchment paper 6 and cook them at 180°C, in static mode, for about 12 minutes: taking care to remove the smallest shortbread cookies a few minutes before.

Prepare the royal icing: whip the egg white with an electric whisk until you get a frothy consistency. Then add the icing sugar, little by little, and finish with a few drops of filtered lemon juice. Once you have the frosting of the correct density, divide it into 4 equal parts and leave one blank; then add a pinch of food coloring, red and blue respectively, and unsweetened cocoa powder to the others 7.

Once baked, take the cookies out and let them cool completely. At the end of the time, transfer the icings into a pocket bag and decorate the delicacies 8.

Arrange the cookies on a cake rack 9 and let the ice dry perfectly; then bring the Father’s Day cookies to the table and serve.
