Fried onion rings: the recipe for a crispy and gourmet starter


THE fried onion rings also known as onion rings I am a antipasti delicious and crispy prepared for us by Chef Michele Ghedini, ideal also as an aperitif, as a snack or as an accompaniment to accompany meat-based main dishes or to be served with cold cuts and cheeses. To make them, simply cut the onion into thick slices, make the rings and pass them through the Beat made with flour, chilled beer, paprika and salt, before fry them in hot oil. We then served the onion rings with a delicious ranch sauce, but you can serve them with any sauce you prefer, such as barbecue sauce. Here’s how to prepare them.

How to make fried onion rings

Take the onions and cut them into rings about half a centimeter thick, then separate all the rings.

Put the onion rings in a bowl and sprinkle them with flour.

In another container mix the flour, salt, paprika and very cold beer. Mix everything well and the dough is ready.

In a saucepan, heat the seed oil.

Meanwhile prepare the ranch sauce: start by creating the mayonnaise by mixing an egg with the seed oil, salt and vinegar, then whisk in the yogurt, a little grated garlic, the chives, the fennel, oregano, lemon, salt and pepper, mix and it’s ready.

When the oil is hot, dip the onions in the batter, then in the flour, drop them into the pan and sauté for about 2 minutes, or until golden, then drain them on paper towel and enjoy the fried onion rings with the Ranch sauce.
