How to make a heart shaped cake

Before starting to prepare the heart-shaped cake, heat the oven to 180°C in static mode, then line the round and square molds with parchment paper, taking care to butter the bottom so that it adheres better. Then mix the butter and the sugar until you get a kind of cream, then add the eggs one by one 1 and vanilla extract.

In another bowl, combine the sifted flour, cocoa and baking powder with a pinch of salt, then add half to the buttercream, mixing well. Now add the buttermilk, vinegar and red food coloring 2.

Finally, combine the rest of the dry ingredients, mix everything together and divide the mixture into the two molds 3. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, checking with the toothpick test that the inside is cooked. Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool inside the molds for 15 minutes, then unmold them and transfer them to a wire rack.

While the cake is cooling, devote yourself to the icing. Mix the butter and cream cheese until soft, then add the icing sugar, vanilla and a pinch of salt and mix until smooth. 4.

When the cakes are cool, cut the round in half with a long blunt knife 5.

At this point, position the square cake so that one of the pointed sides is facing you and place the two round sides side by side with the top half, then cover the whole thing with the icing 6.
