Bell recently unveiled its new Designer Series interiors for its executive version of the 429 helicopters. These come with high-quality leather options, hardwood flooring, and hand-stitching details on seats, amongst other features.

Matt Jayne, Bell’s manager of product marketing told Robb Report “Part of our modernization process was to bring the 429 up to speed with a high-quality look and feel.” “The type of customers this helicopter is used for is always seeking the finer things in life. They need to get from one asset like a luxury car or yacht and in this case, we wanted to make it as seamless as possible.”

Bell’s design team has looked at other industries to find new materials. Because it’s an aircraft, the materials have to be lightweight and flame-proof. The flooring was chosen for its durability and style. “No longer do you have to cover up a high-end carpet with a plastic floor protector to keep it from getting dirty,” says Jayne.

Lathan Bonaparte, vice president of global sales, said that Bell has been working with clients to gain customer feedback for the new interior. The company wants to provide a comfortable and luxurious experience within aircraft, he said.

Clients actually wanted to go beyond the standard offerings for their corporate interiors, so Bell sourced new high-end materials. “We have three different color options for the upholstery and clients can mix them or even invert them, for example with red and grey leathers”, says Jayne. “It gives the client the opportunity to create their own look.”

The design team added USB charging ports in the back, and fold-down tables, while consoles are also upfront. The interior features leather-wrapped handles and color-matched logo plates on trays. The exterior colors are also coordinated with the interiors’ upholstery colors.

The large-cabin 429 offers seating for seven, a cruise speed of 155 knots, and a range of 411 nautical miles. Its 62-inch door is the widest in the industry for easy access. Plus, we showed off our newest Designer Series interior at Heli-Expo.
