In our recipe we have opted for a simple preparation made with 2 ready-made puff pastry rolls, which will be buttered, rolled up and left in the freezer before being cut into slices. With the sheets of puff pastry we will make baskets that we will cook in the oven and fill with a cream made with egg yolks and cream. Simple but irresistible sweets that will conquer everyone. Here’s how to prepare them.

How to prepare pasteis de nata

Layer the two puff pastry rolls with the help of the melted butter, then roll up.

Put the obtained roll in the freezer for at least half an hour, then cut it into slices of about 2 cm.

Place each slice in a muffin tin and flatten with your fingers to create a basket.

Prepare the cream by mixing the egg yolks with the sugar in a saucepan. Add the cream and mix until the cream thickens: this will take about 10 minutes.

Let cool and pour the cream into the puff pastry baskets. Bake at 220°C for 25 minutes.

The pasteis de nata are ready to serve.

You can save pasteis de nata for 1-2 days under a glass bell jar or in an airtight container.
