How to prepare square donuts

Pour 220 ml of water into the bowl and dissolve the fresh brewer’s yeast and the sugar.

Add the flour and knead until you obtain a smooth and compact dough. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let rise for 2 hours.

Roll out the dough into a rectangle and cut it into small rectangles.

Transfer them to the baking paper and cover them with the kitchen towel. Let stand 20 minutes.

Fry pancakes in hot oil until golden brown.

Cover them with sugar before serving.


The more the dough rises, the softer it will be: if you are not in a hurry, leave it covered even more than 2 hours.


Store donuts under a glass bellbut do not forget to consume them in a few days at most.
