How to prepare sweet and sour caramelized onions

Cut the red onions into thin slices.

Pour the olive oil into the pan and brown the onions: cook covered for 5 minutes.

Add salt, pepper, sugar and mix. Cook with the lid on for another 5 minutes.

Pour in the white wine vinegar and cook again until caramelized.

Serve the caramelized onions on bread or enjoy them however you like.
