How to prepare sweet and sour onions

Cut both ends of the red onions and remove a few layers.

Fill the pot with 1 liter of water. Add the sugar and stir over the heat to melt it.

Pour in the white wine vinegar, salt and bring to the boil.

Add the onions and cook for 5 minutes.

Transfer them to glass jars.

Add the olive oil to the vinegar mixture and stir.

Pour it into the jars until they are full and close them.

Turn them over to vacuum seal them.


If the sugar makes the taste too sweet, you can substitute it with brown sugar, which will help tone it down. In addition, to better appreciate their flavor, it is advisable to serve them after letting them rest for a few days.


Store the jar in a cool, dry place, making sure it is tightly closed. Be sure to consume them 3-4 days of the preparation, as they do not contain preservatives.
