I baked onion flowers I am a outline simple and spectacular made for us by Chef Michele Ghedini for the Address Book Easy Gourmet. The ideal preparation to accompany second courses of meat or fish or to make as decorative dish for a buffet. To make them, we used large red onions which will be cut to flower shape and marinate in a bowl with extra virgin olive oil e apple cider vinegar e soya sauce. The onions will then be oven-baked and gently arrange on a serving dish to serve.

After cooking, carefully remove the onions from the pan to avoid breaking them. You can make onion flowers in advance and bring them to the table when serving them: prepare them for a refined dinner, they are excellent both hot and cold.

How to make onion flowers in the oven

Peel the onions 1 and remove the ends. Make 5 cuts without reaching the lower end 2. Repeat with the other onions. Put them in a bowl, pour the soy sauce, apple cider vinegar and extra virgin olive oil 3. Cover with cling film and leave to marinate for 10 minutes.

Transfer the onions to the pan, pour the marinade over them 4. Cover with parchment paper and bake in the oven at 200°C for 30 minutes 5. Gently open the onion leaves, add the sauce and serve them as flowers 6.

You can store cooked onion flowers in the refrigerator for 1-2 days inside an airtight container.
