I carnival cupcakes they are sweet and delicious sweets, from multicolored cupcakes perfect for celebrating the happiest time of the year. Instead of just frosting them with colored buttercream, to make classic American carnival-like cupcakes, we opted to color the batter as well: using a piping bag, we then poured small amounts of each color in the cups and cooked them. in the oven.

How to prepare Carnival cupcakes

For the Carnival cupcakes, start by mixing the softened butter with the sugar until light and fluffy, then add the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time 1.

Then add the flour and finally pour the milk little by little 2mixing until a smooth and homogeneous paste is obtained.

Now divide the dough into six bowls and add a few drops of gel food coloring to each, choosing a color for each bowl and mixing until combined 3.

Once the colored batters are ready, put each in a pocket bag and scoop a small amount into a muffin tin, starting with the darker colors 4.

Finish with red and orange being careful not to touch the rim of the cups 5, then bake the cupcakes in the oven at 180°C for 15 minutes. Before taking them out of the oven, do the toothpick test, which should come out dry, then let them cool completely: the icing will melt if placed on cupcakes that are still hot or warm.

While the cupcakes are cooling, prepare the buttercream to use as the frosting: With a hand whisk, beat the butter until it becomes soft and lighter. Then add the icing sugar, vanilla extract and milk and mix well 5.

Still helping yourself with a piping bag, frost the now cold cupacke with the icing, then decorate with colored sugar sprinkles 6.

Advice

To color the cupcakes, use gel food coloring, because the liquids would make the dough too thin. You can also use just three or four, dividing the dough accordingly.

For an even more scenic effect, also color the buttercream, using the same colorings used for the dough or varying the colors.

If you are short on time, you can decorate the rainbow cupcakes with simple whipped creamthey will be just as greedy.

storage

Carnival cupcakes without icing keep 2 days at room temperature or, if frozen, in the refrigerator. If they are not already frosted, you can also freeze them for up to 3 months by placing them in food-grade plastic bags.
