Baklava with walnuts: the recipe for the typical Turkish dessert


The baklava alle noci It is a typical Türkiye dessert, but also very popular in Greece.

How to make walnut baklava

Combine the flour with the eggs, salt, oil, vinegar and water. Mix well and let stand for 15 minutes.

Divide the dough into 12 balls, cover them with the cloth and let them rest.

Roll out the balls as much as possible with a rolling pin.

Cut the layers into rectangles in the same shape as the pan.

Butter the pan and place the first half of the dough sheets, drizzling them with the melted butter.

Sprinkle with the chopped walnuts and place the second half of the dough sheets.

Cut everything into squares and pour the melted butter over them.

Bake at 180°C for 1 hour.

Finally, prepare the syrup. Pour the sugar, water, and lemon juice into the pot.

Bring to a boil and pour the syrup over the puff pastry before serving.


The puff pastry can be substituted for phyllo dough, which is actually the ingredient used in the original recipe.


Store this dessert in a tray with a lid, but remember to consume it within 2-3 days maximum.
