The paper clips with sugar they are soft and irresistible balls wrapped in sugar, a preparation similar to that of Neapolitan graffe, but without potatoes, ideal for breakfast or for one snack greedy. Once the dough has been made with Flour, brewer’s yeast, milk, sugar, egg, butter or lard and salt, the mixture will have to rise before forming the balls which will still have to rise before cooking. The staples will then fried in hot oil and go immediately caster sugarready to taste, soft and irresistible.

How to make sugar paper clips

Pour the flour, butter or lard into the mixer and mix.

Also add the egg and slowly add the yeast dissolved in the milk with the sugar.

Add a pinch of salt and knead until the mixture is soft and non-sticky.

Work the dough a little on the work surface, form a ball and let it rise for at least 2 hours or until doubled.

Take some pieces from the dough, shape into balls and leave to rise again until doubled.

Fry the paper clips in hot oil until golden brown.

Dip the still hot paper clips in granulated sugar.

storage

If there are any leftovers, you can keep the paper clips with the sugar for a couple of days, well covered, but the ideal would be to enjoy them hot, as soon as they are ready.
